MANILA—A Filipina worker was reportedly raped and assaulted by a Kuwaiti police officer, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday.
Philippine Embassy officials in Kuwait said they are closely coordinating with local officials there for the arrest of Fayed Naser Hamad Alajmy, 22.
Embassy Chargé d'Affaires Mohd Noordin Lomondot said Alajmy assisted the Filipina worker to register via finger-scanning at the airport upon her arrival in Kuwait on June 4.
It was alleged that Alajmy later kidnapped and assaulted the victim.
Lomondot said Kuwaiti authorities have issued an arrest warrant against Alajmy. The Filipina's employer is also cooperating with authorities.
The DFA said the government will exert all efforts to ensure that justice will be served.
