MANILA — The Department of Health reminded the public on Thursday that it is not calling for any donations in cash or in kind.

During a televised briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the agency has monitored messages attributed to its officials, asking for cash or donations in kind.

“Mariin po naming kinukundena ang mga messages na ito (We are strongly condemning these messages). The Department of Health vehemently denounces these felonious and insensitive acts,” Vergeire said.

“We have neither authorized any activity of this nature, nor have we allowed any person to solicit financial contribution on behalf of any of our DOH officials, employees and the department at large,” she added.

Vergeire called on the public to be vigilant and to report to the authorities such questionable acts.

She reminded Filipinos to fact-check and ensure the veracity of messages before forwarding to or sharing with others.
