DFA reports 29 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday another 29 Filipinos abroad were sick with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total tally of overseas cases among Filipino nationals to 5,430.

The agency also said 51 more overseas Filipinos recovered from the illness, bringing the total to 2,346.

Meanwhile, 2 Filipinos abroad died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of fatalities to 382.

To date, some 2,702 Filipino patients abroad are undergoing treatment for COVID-19, broken down as follows by region: 108 in the Asia Pacific, 467 in Europe, 1,862 in the Middle East and Africa, and 265 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, the number of COVID-19 cases climbed to 23,732 on Wednesday. The tally includes 1,027 fatalities and 4,895 recoveries. - With a report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
