MANILA - The Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Tuesday began seeking gadget donations for poor students who will be needing tablets and computers as the education sector shifts to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a Facebook announcement, the OVP urged the public to donate smartphones, tablet computers, laptops and desktop computers for students.
Vice President Leni Robredo, whose office has limited budget from the national government, has been relying on the private sector for funding.
The OVP said it will release details of the donation drive soon but it also recommended that donors also prepare accessories such as chargers.
Several private individuals and groups have also launched donation drives and fund-raising programs to help students procure mobile phones, tablets, laptops and computers as the education sector prepares to deliver lessons online to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.
