MANILA - The total number of Filipinos overseas who have been infected with the novel coronavirus has reached 5,405 after the Department of Foreign Affairs announced 13 new cases on Monday.
Of the total, 2,231 have recovered and 371 others died. The remaining 2,803 cases are still active or recovering, the DFA said.
The foreign office said the Middle East still has the highest recorded COVID-19 cases with more than 3,300 Filipinos infected. The region also has the highest number of recovered coronavirus patients at more than 1,300.
The Americas, meanwhile, still have the highest number of COVID-19 fatalities with 153.
On Sunday, the Philippines confirmed 579 more novel coronavirus infections, bringing the nationwide total to 22,474.
Of the total, 1,011 died and 4,637 others survived.
