MANILA - Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is facing a complaint for grave threats over his alleged confrontation with Labor Undersecretary Jacinto “Jing” Paras.
In a 6-page complaint before the Pasay City Prosecutor's Office, Paras said Trillanes told him "yayariin kita" (I'll end you) on the sidelines of a Senate hearing last week, which they both attended.
"Bigla na lang akong nilapitan ni Trillanes and he raised his hand pointing to me in a form of parang dinuduro niya ako. Sabi niya, 'Yayariin kita. Ang lakas ng loob mo! Yung Presidente mo matatapos din yan at yayariin kita,'" Paras told reporters.
(Trillanes suddenly approached me, raised his hand and pointed a finger at me. He said, 'I'll end you. You have the gall. Your President will end and I'll end you.)
"Sabi ko, 'Mr. Senator, karapatan ko pong mag-file ng kaso, in the same way that you filed a case versus the President," he added.
(I told him, 'Mr. Senator, it is my right to file a case in the same way that you filed a case versus the President)
The senator has denied cursing or threatening to kill Paras, and preventing the official from riding with him in a Senate elevator.
Trillanes said Paras had tried to shake his hand during their encounter, but he rejected the latter's gesture.
"Sinabi ko sa kaniya 'ang lakas naman ng loob mo, kinasu-kasuhan mo ako tapos makikipag-kamay ka sa akin?' So yun ang puno’t dulo niyan," he said.
Paras, however, insisted that Trillanes, as a former military official, has the resources to have him killed.
He also said the press has footage of the senator barring Paras from sharing an elevator ride with him.
