MANILA - Six more Filipinos abroad were diagnosed with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Department of Foreign Affairs said Friday.
This brings the total number of Filipino coronavirus cases overseas to 5,361. The DFA noted that only a few countries were reporting on the status of Filipinos residing in their jurisdictions.
The foreign office said that the total number of overseas Filipinos who have recovered from the disease are at 2,212 after two more patients were healed or discharged from hospital.
Four more Filipinos in the Middle East died due to the virus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 361.
To date, 20,626 coronavirus cases have been recorded in the Philippines, with 4,330 recoveries and 987 deaths.
Since its first emergence in China in late 2019, the deadly virus has infected more than 6.4 million people across the globe with over 380,000 fatalities, according to the World Health Organization.
