MANILA - The number of Filipinos abroad infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has breached 5,200 as 34 new cases were recorded,the Department of Foreign Affairs said Monday.
According to the agency, the total number of COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos climbed to 5,218, with 342 deaths and 2,167 recoveries.
Of the total, 2,709 are undergoing treatment for the disease, broken down per region as follows: 136 in the Asia Pacific Region, 472 in Europe, 1,835 in Middle East and Africa, and 266 in the Americas.
On Monday, the Philippines' health department reported 552 more coronavirus cases in the country, raising the cumulative total of infections to 18,638. The tally includes 3,979 patients who recovered and 960 who died.
