MANILA—Pasig Mayor-elect Vico Sotto on Saturday said he hopes Robert “Bobby” Eusebio, whom Sotto defeated in last month's election, would find "inner peace to accept the truth" that he lost.
Eusebio has filed a formal protest questioning the result of the polls, a move Sotto said he welcomes.
"Nag-file na po ng electoral protest ang kalaban ko. Sa akin, ok lang dahil lalong makikita ng lahat kung gaano ka-accurate ang resulta," Sotto said in a Facebook post.
"Wishing my opponent inner peace to accept the truth. I'm just here, ready to work with him for a smooth transition, if and when he's ready."
Sotto earlier told his predecessor "to move forward" after the latter refused to concede defeat.
The 29-year-old politician toppled the nearly 3-decade rule of the Eusebios in Pasig.
