China supports Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and his government's anti-drug efforts, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday, adding that the two countries' law enforcement cooperation against drug smuggling has made major progress.

Hua Chunying, Foreign Ministry spokesperson, made the remarks at a routine briefing in response to a question related to a recent cross-border drug trafficking case solved jointly by the two sides, with 12 suspects arrested and over 600 kilograms of methamphetamine seized.

"[In this case,] the law enforcement departments from China and the Philippines conducted close cooperation and jointly cracked down on the case, marking a major achievement of their anti-drug law enforcement cooperation," said Hua.

China wants further cooperation with the Philippines in such fields as anti-drug information sharing, technical equipment, handling cases together, and drug rehabilitation programs, Hua said.
