MANILA -- Senator-elect Imee Marcos said Thursday she addressed questions about her educational background "a gazillion times" adding it was time to focus on work.

Princeton University said in February that the 63-year-old daughter of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos did not graduate from the school, although she enrolled in 1973.

The University of the Philippines College of Law said she took courses but did not graduate after photos of her supposed graduation were circulated.

"I've answered it a gazillion times. It's an issue na napakaraming issue (with so many side issues)," she told ANC's Headstart.

Marcos said she and her classmates at the UP College of Law understood that they graduated.

"Ang sinabi ko nga, as far as I know, ito ang ginawa ko. Marami akong kaklase sa UP College of Law. Ang pagkaintindi namin, nag-graduate kami so eto nga, sana isinasantabi na 'yan, tigilan na ang mga 'yan at diretso na tayo sa trabaho," she said.

(I've said that as far as I know, this is what I did. I had many classmates at the UP College of Law. From what we understand, we graduated. I hope that would be set aside and stopped, let's just go straight to work.)

"Tapos na eleksyon e. We have the voice of the people. We have been voted in. Let's get to work, hit the ground running and spare everyone this non-stop discussion on the same thing again and again. Hindi ko na alam kung anong tamang sagot e," she added.

(The election has ended... I don't know what the right answer is anymore.)

Asked if she will apologize to Princeton and UP, Marcos said: "What will I apologize for? I'm still getting alumni letters and I keep receiving all these invites."

"We're always supposed to apologize for martial law, about my father. I think it's important that you give us a chance and finally, put aside these issues," she said.

"Palagay ko binoto naman ako ng taumbayan dahil sa nagawa ko, sa karanasan so hayaan naman natin na ang gusto ng taumbayan ang masunod," she said.
