MANILA - Several areas in Metro Manila were flooded Tuesday night due to heavy rains.
State weather bureau PAGASA released its first thunderstorm advisory for Metro Manila at 4:15 p.m., followed by two more advisories released at 6:10 p.m. and 7:40 p.m.
As of posting, light to moderate rains were still expected in parts of Rizal, Laguna and Nueva Ecija, which could persist in one to two hours.
Nearby provinces of Cavite, Bulacan and Bataan may also experience rains.
The sudden downpour caused flooding in different parts of Quezon City.
Thunderstorms affecting Metro Manila were expected to persist for two hours.
PAGASA officially announced the onset of rainy season on Tuesday.
"Intermittent to continuous rains and thunderstorms, associated with the Southwest Monsoon, will continue to affect Metro Manila and the western section of the country," the statement read.
"Most parts of the country are likely to experience near to above normal rainfall conditions in the next two (2) months (June-July)."
