The rainy season has started, state weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday.
In a statement, PAGASA said widespread rainfall recorded in the last 5 days confirmed the onset of the rainy season.
"Intermittent to continuous rains and thunderstorms, associated with the Southwest Monsoon, will continue to affect Metro Manila and the western section of the country," the statement read.
"Most parts of the country are likely to experience near to above normal rainfall conditions in the next two (2) months (June-July)."
The weather bureau added that breaks in the rain events may also occur due to the "persistence of the ridge of the North Pacific high pressure area."
PAGASA advised the public to take precautionary measures during the rainy season.
The weather bureau announced last Wednesday the start of southwest monsoon.
