MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Friday 24 more Filipinos abroad were sick with COVID-19, raising the total tally of overseas infections among Filipino nationals to 2,845.
The respiratory illness also killed 6 more overseas Filipinos, bringing the death toll to 340, the agency said.
The number of those who recovered from COVID-19 is also up by 11 to 947, it added.
“The DFA personnel in our FSPs [Foreign Service Posts] continue to actively monitor the status of the Filipino community abroad and work to safely repatriate more of our stranded nationals home,” the DFA said in a statement.
As of Friday, some 1,558 Filipino patients abroad were undergoing treatment for COVID-19, broken down as follows by region: 139 in the Asia Pacific Region, 467 in Europe, 682 in the Middle East and Africa and 270 in the Americas.
As of 4 p.m. Thursday, COVID-19 has sickened 15,588 in the Philippines. The tally includes 921 deaths and 3,598 recoveries. - With a report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
