MANILA- Some 40 Filipinos in Dubai have died due to the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Philippine Consul General Paul Raymond Cortes said Friday.
"Halos 40 na rin po na mga kababayan natin ang sadly na nasawi dahil sa COVID-19," Cortes said in a virtual press briefing.
(Around 40 of our fellow Filipinos have sadly passed away here due to COVID-19.)
Dubai this week has allowed free movement and business activity to restart its economy.
As of Thursday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said 2,841 Filipinos abroad have tested positive for COVID-19. This includes 334 deaths and 934 recoveries.
