MANILA - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday arrested a former model who was allegedly selling COVID-19 test kits without a license.

The NBI said Avigail Siwa, also a former actress, was caught selling test kits online without a license from the Food and Drug Administration.

Ronald Aguto, chief of the NBI International Operations Division, reminded the public that there is a prohibition in the selling of test kits online.

According to FDA, COVID-19 test kits can only be acquired through prescription from licensed physicians, licensed hospitals or drugstores. Only doctors or trained health professionals must administer tests, the agency said.

Besides selling test kits without a license, Siwa is also facing an estafa case for allegedly failing to deliver orders of rice she had sold.

She denied all allegations, saying she will face head-on charges filed against her.

"I will definitely fight," she told reporters.
