MANILA - The Angelicum School in Iloilo will remain open after the initial notice on its closure was recalled by its Board of Trustees.
In a media advisory made public Friday and signed by Fr. Napoleon Sipalay Jr., the academic institution issued a "corrective statement" overruling and recalling the Notice to Parents on the cessation of operation of the school.
"The Board of Trustees, as well as the Provincial Council of the Dominican Province of the Philippines, didn't approve any cessation of operation," Sipalay said, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Angelicum School, Inc. in Iloilo.
Sipalay also added that the Board of Trustees has accepted the resignation of Fr. Maximo Gatela as school director.
Gatela, in a Notice to Parents issued on May 27, cited the school's difficulties in coping with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He had said the school, located in Jaro, Iloilo, will cease operations effective July 31, 2020.
"The experience of the 4th Grading Period was difficult for all of us," said Gatela.
