MANILA - Losing gubernatorial bets in Lanao del Sur, led by former TESDA Director General Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong, filed a petition at the Commission on Elections on Wednesday seeking to nullify the election results in the entire province of Lanao del Sur and Marawi City.
Mamondiong and fellow gubernatorial candidates Hatta Dimaporo, Agakhan “Binladen” Sharief and Sultan Bob Datimbang called for the suspension of the effects of proclamation and for the declaration of failure of elections.
They also called for special elections in the province and city.
Named as respondent is Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong, Jr. who was proclaimed as the winning candidate.
The losing bets said the conduct of elections in the province was marred by violence, vote-buying, and acts of “massive fraud” such pre-shading of ballots, and substitution of voters.
