MANILA — Aksyon Demokratiko on Thursday congratulated President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio for winning the 2022 national elections, adding it would “continue to be vigilant and will closely look at how the country will be run.”

“The Party is hoping that we will have a better country under the Marcos administration," said Aksyon Demokratiko chairman Ernest Ramel Jr.

"We will criticize when needed be but we will also give credits when they are due," he said in a statement.

Aksyon Demokratiko earlier fielded Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso as its standard bearer in the 2022 national elections.

Domagoso and his party repeatedly questioned the Bureau of Internal Revenue about the Marcos family’s P203-billion estate tax debt that has been unpaid for several decades.

“We should not be complacent and take this administration to task with the gargantuan challenges we as a nation and citizenry will all be facing," Ramel said.

“Aksyon Demokratiko will be around to continue to fight for honest and good governance, opportunities for all, prosperity, peace and productivity and education and the environment for sustainable development," he said.

While Aksyon Demokratiko failed to cinch a victory in the presidential, vice presidential and senatorial elections, its most significant feats include the landslide reelection win of its executive vice president Mayor Vico Sotto and his slate in Pasig City.
