MANILA -- Six lawmakers may contend for the leadership of the House of Representatives, the spokesperson of a group of party-list representatives said Monday.
The Party-List Coalition Foundation Inc. (PCFI) recently met with 3 Speaker hopefuls, including Representatives Lord Allan Velasco of Marinduque, Alan Peter Cayetano of Taguig and Martin Romualdez of Leyte, said the group's spokesperson, Nina Taduran.
Taduran, who is representative of the ACT-CIS party-list, also responded in the affirmative when asked if Antique Rep. Loren Legarda and Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte are included in the race for spearkership.
She also mentioned the name Alvarez, referring to Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, who was ousted as leader of the chamber last year.
PCFI has yet to decide who it will support among the 6 candidates, Taduran told reporters.
Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, 72, is on her third and final House term, which ends June 30.
PARTY-LIST RACE TOPNOTHCER
Taduran is among 3 nominees of ACT-CIS, the topnotcher of the party-list race whose victory in the May 13 polls was proclaimed last week by the Commission on Elections.
The 61 party-list seats up for grabs in the polls were divided among 51 groups.
"They will [be] expecting too much from us... We will deliver, we will perform, para 'di masasayang ang inyong boto (so your votes will not be wasted," said Taduran.
