ZAMBOANGA CITY - Three puroks in Barangay Zone 2 here were placed under lockdown until June 7 after a 34-year-old woman tested positive for the novel coronavirus, local officials said Monday.
The woman is a volunteer worker who participated in a vaccination program and had direct contact with some 14 children, local officials said.
The patient is the city's 142nd case as of Friday and was among 44 residents initially subjected to a random rapid test. She is asymptomatic but is currently admitted at a COVID-19 facility, authorities said.
Local officials will bring food to some 350 households in puroks Bougainvillea, Gumamela and Water Lily as they cannot go outside their homes during the 14-day quarantine, according to village chief Nonito Aranas.
The Philippines as of Sunday recorded 14,035 cases of COVID-19, with 3,249 recoveries and 868 deaths.
