MANILA — The Office of the Ombudsman indicted a mayor in Sorsogon and three other municipal officials on allegations they failed to remit Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) premium contributions.

The Ombudsman charged Mayor Michael Guysayko of Bulusan town for violating the GSIS Act of 1997, which mandates that contributions be remitted within 10 days of the following month.

The anti-graft body also charged municipal treasurer Jasmin Garcia, accountant Ramon Belleza and budget officer Marieta Negrite.

The office said that, from July to December 2010 and April to July 2011, the municipal officials either failed, refused or delayed the payment of remittances amounting to P200,000 per month.
