MANILA – At least 92 personnel of the Armed Forces have been discharged under the Duterte administration after they tested positive for illegal drug use, according to the Department of National Defense (DND).
A total 32,795 personnel underwent drug testing since the start of the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte - 30,974 in 2016, and 1,821 in the first quarter of 2017.
Of this number, 92 personnel tested positive, including 1 military officer, 64 enlisted personnel, 14 militamen, and 4 civilian employees in 2016.
An additional 9 enlisted personnel tested positive in the first quarter of 2017.
The erring personnel were discharged or dismissed from the service, according to the DND.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana earlier signed a memorandum of agreement directing the DND to conduct random drug testing for all personnel and applicants.
