MANILA - Four Malabon City policemen arrested Monday for kidnapping and robbery-extortion underwent inquest proceedings at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday.
Senior Police Office (PO) 2 Ricky Pelicano, PO2 Wilson Sanchez, PO1 Joselito Ereño, and PO1 Frances Camua, assigned in anti-drugs operations, were slapped with a complaint for kidnapping, robbery, carnapping, and planting of dangerous drugs (as penalized under Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act).
Also charged were their at-large "cohorts" namely, SPO2 Gerry Dela Torre, PO3 Michael Angelo Diaz Solomon, PO3 Luis Tayo Hizon, Jr., PO2 Michael Papa Huerto, PO1 Jovito Cabutotan Roque, Jr., PO1 Ricky Alix Lamsen, and PO3 Bernardino C. Pacoma.
The cops were nabbed following a complaint of the family of an alias "Norma," who was allegedly abducted by the suspects in Quezon City after she visited her boyfriend at the Bureau of Corrections' (BuCor) medium security compound.
Along with cohorts still at large, respondents allegedly detained her and demanded P2 million in exchange for her freedom. The amount was allegedly lowered to P1 million during negotiations for her release.
"Norma" was also allegedly forced by respondents to transact for a kilo of shabu with her contact.
"Norma" was rescued in a joint operation by the Philippine National Police's Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF) and Northern Police District (NPD).
