MANILA - Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde is looking at three angles in the killing of retired prosecutor Geronimo Marave Jr. in Ozamiz City.
Albayalde on Tuesday said they are first looking at the angle that Marave worked as a former prosecutor of Ozamiz.
“Apparently, may naapakan siya during the time when he was still a prosecutor at may sumama ang loob sa kanya,” Albayalde said.
Their second angle is looking into the connection of Marave in the release of a drug suspect.
“Mayroon din siyang napa-release na isang drug suspect. Ito yung tinitingnang anggulo rito,” Albayalde said.
"And something personal na hindi na natin kailangan sabihin,” he added.
Albayalde said Marave’s death was not police retaliation.
“Sabi nga nila, pag me mga nadi-dismiss na mga cases doon, ay nakakasuhan pa yung mga pulis natin... Hindi naman siguro. Matagal na most probably nag-retaliate ang pulis kung talagang ganon eh,” he said.
“Yun ang nangyari during that time, but doesn’t mean na ang mga pulis masasama ang loob doon sa nangyari. In fact, wala kaming nakuhang information an nag-push through o nag-hold water ang mga cases doon sa mga pulis natin,” he added.
