MANILA - Former Manila Councilor Greco Belgica supports plans to make Janet Lim Napoles a state witness when the Department of Justice (DOJ) reopens the investigation of the pork barrel scam.

Belgica said the alleged mastermind of the pork barrel scam should be given another chance to speak even though she had been consistent in previous hearings.

"We have a lot but Janet... if she talks, we'll get a lot from her," he told ANC on Monday. "I will give her that one chance and see whether she will really tell all or not."

Belgica said he is confident that Napoles will tell the truth as she knows how the administration hates corruption.

He added that Napoles claims she has the evidence to back her testimony up.

"The evidence will speak for itself. Whatever Mrs. Napoles will say, according to her, kaya niyang patunayan," he said.

Belgica also said there were death threats against Napoles when she was still inside the Correctional Institution for Women.

He said this is the reason why Napoles is requesting to be transferred to another detention facility.

"Sasaksakin na ho yan doon sa loob. I have talked to people inside na talagang ipapatay na si Napoles," he said.

Meanwhile, Belgica also mentioned there were a lot of people who wanted to witness in the pork barrel scam after the 2016 elections.

Some of these, he said, were recipients of money, contractors or part of the staff.
