MANILA – The number of COVID-19 cases among the ranks of the Philippine National Police (PNP) rose by 10 to 260 infections on Thursday, latest figures show.

The police force reported no new deaths, keeping total fatalities at 4. Meanwhile, 15 more police officers have survived the disease, raising the tally of recoveries to 84.

The 205,000-strong organization is also monitoring 788 probable carriers of the virus. Some 574 others are under observation for suspicion of having caught COVID-19.

In its May 18 bulletin, the PNP reported 250 infections.

Police officers are among those who continue to report for work under the lockdown as they serve as frontliners in enforcing quarantine guidelines.

To date, the number of coronavirus infections in the Philippines stood at 13,434. The tally includes 846 people who succumbed to COVID-19 while 3,000 have recovered.
