The Department of Tourism (DOT) has sealed a deal with Chinese state-owned Guangxi Tourism Development Group Co., Ltd. to mount chartered flights directly from Guangxi province to Davao, Cebu, and Clark.
The chartered flights add to the list of air carriers that directly service 13 Chinese cities for trips to Manila, Kalibo, Cebu and Laoag, according to Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo.
"This undertaking will open up secondary gateways in the Philippines to the Chinese market and bring in additional tourists from mainland China," Teo said.
Teo added that the deal is a "win-win" situation for the two countries as the DOT can identify ideal destinations and packages for Chinese groups visiting the Philippines.
Meanwhile, tour operator Sun Fair International, which has offices in Xiamen and Hong Kong, has committed 10,000 more Chinese tourists visiting Manila starting this month.
