MANILA - The Senate on Monday passed on third and final reading a bill seeking to declare September 8 a special working holiday in commemoration of the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

House Bill No. 7856, or "An Act Declaring September 8 of Every Year a Special Working Holiday in the Entire Country to Commemorate the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary," was approved with 19 affirmative votes, zero no votes and no abstentions.

Back in 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte declared December 8 as a nationwide holiday to commemorate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
