MANILA – The Supreme Court (SC) said Tuesday it has issued a show cause order against a Davao de Oro judge and her staff who held a birthday party for the former in possible violation of quarantine guidelines set to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease.
Judge Cresenciana Dela Cruz Cruz of the Nabunturan, Davao de Oro (formerly Compostela Valley) Regional Trial Court Branch 3 allegedly had a buffet treat in her chamber with her staff weeks ago, the SC Public Information Office said in a statement.
The high court directed the Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) to submit a report within 15 calendar days as to whether or not there were violations committed by Cruz and her staff.
Davao de Oro was placed under enhanced community quarantine on April 7 in a bid to hem in the transmission of COVID-19. The lockdown rule in the province shifted to general community quarantine starting May 16.
Last Friday, police officials in Metro Manila were charged for allegedly violating pandemic protocols as they held a birthday celebration for Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office.
Sinas and 18 other officers are facing administrative charges for less grave misconduct and less grave neglect of duty and for allegedly violating Republic Act 11332 or "Law on Reporting of Communicable Diseases.”
