MANILA- The Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2) resumed operations Sunday morning following the collision of 2 of its coaches Saturday night.
Two LRT-2 coaches collided in the area between Cubao and Anonas stations in Quezon City, Saturday night leaving 34 people injured.
Light Rail Transit Authority spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said Sunday the collision happened after an unmanned train started moving on its own from the pocket track and wound up on the eastbound track of the railway.
An investigation is underway.
Following the incident, Cabrera assured the riding public that the LRT-2 management is working to ensure the safety of its passengers.
"The incident that happened is an isolated incident. Our system, our trains are safe and we assure our public that we will do our best to do our job and whatever due diligence to ensure the safety of our passengers," he said.
