It all comes down to a coin toss.

A coin toss on Friday afternoon will decide who will be the mayor of the town of Araceli, Palawan after the results of the May 13 elections ended in a tie.

The canvassing of votes on Thursday revealed a tie for reelectionist Noel Beronio and former Mayor Sue Cudilla who both received 3,495 votes from 16 clustered precincts.

Their supporters had anticipated a tight race in Monday’s poll based on their experiences in past elections.

It was in 2013 when the two candidates first ran against each other for the mayoralty post where Cudilla won.

Beronio won in the 2016 elections against Cudilla with just a margin of 19 votes.

The coin toss to settle the electoral tie will be at 3 p.m. Friday.

Beronio said he will respect the outcome.

“Kung iyon ang rules, tatanggapin natin ‘yun. Pero sana lang maging malinis ang resulta muna ng halalan bago namin gawin ‘yun,” said Beronio.

Cudilla’s side declined to comment on the issue, when asked by ABS-CBN News.
