MANILA - The Sandiganbayan 5th Division is allowing former senator Jose "Jinggoy" Estrada to undergo a medical check-up of his shoulder at Cardinal Santos Medical Center at 12 noon Thursday.

Estrada, who is detained inside the Custodial Center in Camp Crame, has been suffering from right shoulder pain since last year.

Estrada, who is facing plunder and graft charges in connection with the pork barrel scam, has also complained of similar pains in his left shoulder in 2014. It was later found out that he was suffering from a frozen left shoulder.

"With due respect to the Honorable Court and not to be interpreted as self-medical examination, accused-movant (sic) extreme pain is similar to what Dr. Tyrone Reyes have (sic) diagnosed in 2014 as calcific tendonitis which may require arthroscopic surgery if the pain continues to be extremely painful (sic)," a portion of Estrada's motion read.
