MANILA - The children of slain Balaoan, La Union vice mayor Alfred Concepcion have secured respective elective posts in the town in the midterm elections.
Mayor Aleli Concepcion was reelected mayor, while her brother, Carlo, took over their slain father's post as vice mayor.
Aleli got 15,281 votes, almost 10,000 more than her opponent, Pedro Obaldo Jr.'s 5,382 votes.
Carlo, on the other hand, got 12,744 votes, based on partial and unofficial results from 100 percent of the town's election returns.
Mayor Aleli was with her father when the suspects opened fire on their vehicle in November 2018.
She was wounded in the incident, while her father died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The elder Concepcion's second cousin, Rogelio, has also secured a post in the town council, coming in second with 14,359 votes.
Rogelio survived an ambush earlier this month.
