A Japanese national was arrested Tuesday for illegal recruitment, hiring sex workers, and using illegal drugs.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Special Action Unit arrested Japanese national Takahiro Yano after authorities served him a search warrant in his hotel room in Malate, Manila.

An informant told NBI the suspect was hiring sex workers for their services.

Yano was also caught on surveillance video using drugs with a sex worker.

The NBI discovered 11 sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

They also retrieved several passports of Filipinas, whom they believe are being recruited by Yano for pre-arranged marriages.

Yano faces charges for violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He denied the allegations and claimed that he was framed.
