The widow of slain Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe has lost her mayoral bid in the town of Daraga, Albay, along with the alleged mastermind behind her husband's slay.
Gertie Batocabe received 19,859 votes, losing to the proclaimed winner, Daraga Vice Mayor Victor Perete, who received 24,616 votes, data from the Commission on Elections transparency server showed, based on 100 percent of election returns from clustered precincts.
Gertie substituted her husband for the mayoral bid after he was gunned down in December 2018 while distributing Christmas gifts.
Reelectionist Calwyn Baldo, the alleged mastermind in the lawmaker's slay, only had 16,564 votes.
Perete assumed the position of acting mayor three days before the elections after Baldo surrendered to authorities because of charges of double murder and 6 counts of attempted murder filed against him.
Mayor-elect Perete said he would do his best to improve and develop the municipality of Daraga.
Meanwhile, Perete's running mate Jungie Jaucian won as vice mayor with 27,954 votes.
