MANILA - Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday belied a Facebook post claiming she would quit her post if Otso Diretso bets fail to snag a Senate seat.

Robredo, in a tweet, urged the public to report those who spread misinformation.

"Not true. Let's continue fighting disinformation. Report peddlers of fake news," she said.

The Facebook post contains a photo of Robredo, with a quotation: "If no one among the Otso Diretso will win the election, I will step down as Vice President."

Only reelectionist Sen. Bam Aquino made it to the top 12, clinching the last spot with 2,335,724 votes, according to the latest partial and official results from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Robredo has several times been hit with "fake news," including her personal life and being accused of involvement in alleged ouster plots against President Rodrigo Duterte.

Administration officials have several times alleged that opposition figures were behind moves to overthrow the President, but Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has consistently said the military had no such information.
