MANILA - Davao City Sara Duterte-Carpio on Wednesday said she "sobbed" after her bailiwick delivered a 12-0 victory for Senate hopefuls endorsed by her regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
None of the opposition, independent and non-aligned candidates were in the top 12 of the Senate race in Davao City, with 100 percent of votes transmitted, according to a tally by the Commission on Elections.
"I am humbled as I bow. I am not a person who cries easily but when it was definite that Davao City delivered a 12-0 vote for Senators of HNP, the tears flowed and the sobbing followed," President Rodrigo Duterte's daughter told her 389,000 Instagram followers.
The 12-0 win for Hugpong, she added, was "a first in our city's history."
Davao City also gave Duterte-Carpio a landslide win in her reelection bid as mayor, securing 580,440 votes against the 4,270 of her rival, Jun Marcellones.
Her brother, Sebastian "Baste" Duterte, ran unopposed for vice mayor and got 558,128 votes
The President's eldest son Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, the city’s former vice-mayor, led the race for the congressional seat of the first district with 197,370 votes.
Quoting a Bible verse, Duterte-Carpio said, "Unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required."
"Daghang Salamat sa inyong tanan. I have said that I feel alone everyday stressing over making sure Davao City is ok but when I need am in distress, Dabawenyos carry me on their backs," the mayor said.
"Salamat sa inyo. I promise to work harder until I break. I love you all," she added.
