MANILA - Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O’Neill will be in the Philippines from May 15 to 17 for an official visit, Malacañang said Tuesday.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said O’Neill’s visit is “an important opportunity to reaffirm and further strengthen the friendly and cooperative ties” between the Philippines and Papua New Guinea.
“With other similar histories and shared aspirations for greater peace, progress and prosperity of our peoples and region, the Philippines stands ready to work with Papua New Guinea for the mutual benefit and sustainable and inclusive growth of our nations,” Roque said in a Palace press briefing.
O’Neill is scheduled to arrive in the Philippines at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
He will hold a bilateral meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday and visit the Philippine Rice Research Institute in Nueva Ecija on May 17.
Papua New Guinea is this year’s host of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings.
