MANILA — Pia Cayetano is set to return in the Senate after a brief one-term stint at the House of Representatives.

As of 12:53 p.m. with 94.72 percent of votes counted, Cayetano was comfortably placed in the 4th spot of the Senate race dominated by other administration-backed candidates.

While Cayetano ran under the Nacionalista Party, she also enjoyed the backing of President Rodrigo Duterte's PDP-Laban as well as Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio's regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

She was likewise included in the "bloc voting" list of influential religious group Iglesia ni Cristo.

Cayetano was a senator from 2004 until she served her maximum 2-term limit in 2016.

She then ran and won as a representative of Taguig City's 2nd legislative district.

During her time at the House of Representatives, Cayetano was picked as one of the chamber's deputy speakers.

In Cayetano bailiwick Taguig, couple Alan Peter and Lani are also headed for victory as representatives of the city's two legislative districts.

The Cayetano couple’s candidacies in separate districts have been questioned by a Taguig resident before the Comelec over domicile issues. On May 6, however, the poll body junked the petition.

The petitioner filed a motion for reconsideration last Friday to stop the Cayetano family's alleged "super dynasty."

Taguig has been the stronghold of the Cayetanos for two decades now, which started when the family patriarch Renato Cayetano was elected as its representative in 1984.
