MANILA - The Commission on Elections on Tuesday called on national and local candidates to take down their campaign posters.

"Hey candidates — winners and also-rans — tapos na ang #NLE2019. Take down your posters na," the poll body's spokesperson James Jimenez said in a tweet.

In February, the Comelec launched a crackdown on illegal posters and campaign materials that were bigger than standard measurements or were plastered outside designated zones.

Under the election law, campaign posters are limited to 2 by 3 feet and should be placed only in “common poster areas,” which are determined by local election officers.

Violators may be fined, imprisoned for up to 6 years or disqualified from holding public office.
