Election officials in three Bukidnon towns continued counting votes with the help of flashlights, candles and lamps after a power outage hit parts of the province Monday.

Members of the electoral board in Libona town used flashlights and portable lamps while counting votes for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

Power outage hit the whole town of Libona and Baungon and some parts of Manolo Fortich past 3 p.m., after voting precincts closed and counting began. 

According to the Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative (BUSECO) the unscheduled power interruption was caused by a line fault due to lightning that hit its Lunocan substation.

Power restoration is ongoing as of this posting.
