MANILA -- Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said she campaigned hard for the pro-administration Senate slate to ensure that the chamber would support her father's agenda in the last 3 years of his term.
Duterte-Carpio said she was a bit nervous after she cast her vote and that she picked 12 senatorial candidates "from memory." Her Hugpong ng Pagbabago is supporting 13 candidates but only 12 seats are up for grabs.
"Noong nakaraang 3 years, nakita natin medyo nahirapan si President Duterte sa pagtulak ng mga gusto niyang mangyari para sa ating bayan, especially 'yung mga campaign promises niya, doon sa pagkuha ng suporta sa Senate," she told reporters.
(In the last 3 years, we saw how difficult it was for President Duterte to push for reforms, especially his campaign promises, gaining support in the Senate.)
"That's why we really worked hard during this campaign para ma-present sa mga tao kung sino yung mga senators na nakakaintindi kung ano ang vision ng ating Presidente at hopefully, bobotohan nila," she said.

Duterte-Carpio urged the public to vote on Monday, which is also a public holiday. President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to vote in Davao City later Monday.
