MANILA (3rd UPDATE) - Former Vice President Jejomar Binay continues to trail Kid Peña in Makati City's congressional race, based on partial and unofficial results Monday night.

As of 9 p.m., Binay got 62,754 votes, while Peña had 68,114 votes, according to partial results from 96 percent of the city’s clustered precincts.

John Mesina and Ferdie Sevilla were far behind at 1,177 and 706 votes, respectively.

Binay's daughter Abby is meanwhile poised to beat brother Junjun for the city's mayoral post.

Abby got 173,832 votes, while her brother Junjun had 95,517 votes, based on 96.8 percent of election returns of clustered precincts.

Abby’s husband, incumbent Makati City 2nd District Rep. Luis Campos, is also ahead in the congressional race, with 88,528 votes, based on election results from 97.76 percent of clustered voting precincts.

For Makati vice mayor, Monique Lagdameo pulled ahead of her rivals with 176,898 votes. Former actor Monsour del Rosario trailed with 102,244 votes, based on election results from 97 percent of clustered precincts.

Political analyst Dindo Manhit said the Binay patriarch's standing came as a surprise, since his children got the bulk of the city's vote.

"Kagulat-gulat yan syempre pero yung distrito kasi na tinakbuhan ni VP Binay ay yung mga tinatawag natin sa Makati na 'villages'," he told Bandila.

"Mga middle class, pero kagulat-gulat na pipiliin nila si Kid Peña, yung dating OIC over former VP Binay at ang laki naman ng boto ni Abby tsaka rin ni Junjun." --Report from Vivienne Gulla, ABS-CBN News
