MANILA — The Department of Health has recorded 67 additional health workers with COVID-19, with one new fatality.
The total number of health workers in the country with COVID-19 rose to 2,067 as of May 11, from 1,991 the day before.
“Kinalulungkot naming ibalita na kahapon ay nakapagtala tayo ng isang kapamilyang health worker na namatay sa sakit na COVID-19,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said during a televised briefing.

It was the first COVID-19 death of a health worker since over a week ago.
This brings the total number of health workers who have died from COVID-19 to 35.
Meanwhile, the number of health workers who recovered from COVID-19 went up to 643, with 59 additional patients who have gotten better.
Of the 2,067 health workers with COVID-19, 759 are nurses, 631 are physicians, 129 are nursing assistants, 72 are medical technologists, 39 are radiologic technologists and the rest are other health facility personnel.
Of the 1,389 active cases, 1,026 have mild symptoms, 356 are asymptomatic and only 7 are considered severe cases.
