MANILA - Police arrested on Sunday 5 Chinese nationals who allegedly kidnapped 3 compatriots in Makati.
The suspects allegedly forced fellow Chinese nationals Zhou Yang, Sengxiao Ling and Ou Shen into a van along Verdant Avenue in Las Piñas last Friday, police said.
Ou Shen, however, escaped and reported the abduction.
The kidnappers meanwhile demanded P200,000 for the victims' release and arranged for the ransom money to be dropped off at a mall in Makati.
The Makati and Las Piñas police set up an entrapment operation and
arrested the suspects after the Chinese nationals received the money. The 2 abduction victims were found inside the van used by the suspects.
The Chinese kidnappers were identified as Li Wei, Ruan Hu Bin, Chen Sing, Weng Peng Chao and Li Hui Sie.
The Filipino drivers of the van, Marvin Villas and Lolito Angeles, were still being questioned by the police to determine their participation in the case.
