MANILA - The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Saturday formed a task force to investigate the shooting of Deputy Prosecutor Rogelio Velasco.
Velasco was gunned down Friday by unidentified men.
The eight-member task force will be headed by QCPD deputy district director for operations Senior Supt. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan.
Initial investigation showed that Velasco was driving his red Toyota Innova when around four unidentified gunmen on board a white Innova fired at his vehicle.
The gunmen then shot Velasco repeatedly. The victim was brought to the East Avenue Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival.
“Initially, we are looking into the motive of the shooting as work-related. However, we will look into other angles to establish the real motive in the killing to identify and arrest the perpetrators," QCPD director Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel said in a statement.
He also appealed to anyone with information related to the killing to help with the investigation.
