The Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutors Office has dismissed the murder complaint against the teen suspect in the killing of 16-year-old Christine Lee Silawan.
City Prosecutor Ruso Zaragoza said the panel decided to dismiss the case filed by the National Bureau of Investigation against the 18-year-old suspect due to lack of evidence.
The panel of prosecutors instead recommended the filing of a murder case against 43-year-old Renato Llenes, the self-confessed killer of Silawan.
Llenes earlier admitted to killing Silawan, saying he was obsessed with the victim whom he befriended through social media.
The murder case against Llenes is set to be filed next week.
Zaragosa, meanwhile, allowed the management of the Home Care Facility to release the 18-year-old suspect.
Silawan, a student of the Maribago High School, was found dead in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on March 11. She was allegedly raped and the skin of her skull was peeled off.--Report from Aiza Layague, ABS-CBN News
