ILOCOS NORTE - A 78-year-old bicycle rider was injured after he was hit by a motorcycle in Brgy. Boyboy, Piddig town in Ilocos Norte on Tuesday night.

Gregorio Valentin said he was cycling on the side of the road when a speeding motorcycle hit him.

“Habang nagba-bike ako, may narinig akong mabilis na motorsiklo sa likod ko. Bigla na lang natamaan 'yung paa ko. Akala ko, gasgas lang pero bali na pala. Hindi tumigil ‘yung sasakyan,” Valentin said.

He did not see the plate number of the motorcycle because it was dark.

“Hindi ko na nakita ‘yung mukha niya. Wala kasing mga bahay doon. Buti na lang may dumaan at tumawag sa pulis,” the victim said.

Jay Domingo saw the injured Valentin on the road and reported the incident to the police.

He also posted a photo of the victim on his Facebook account that has received more than 6,000 shares and 5,000 comments as of writing.

Netizens were disappointed with the motorcycle driver who left the victim instead of bringing him to a hospital. They also sent prayers for Valentin's fast recovery.

Valentin is now being treated at a hospital.

He said he has no plan to file a case against the driver if identified and that he only appeals for financial assistance for his hospitalization.
