MANILA - (UPDATE) President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed former Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno as social welfare undersecretary.
Appointment papers released by the Palace Wednesday showed Moreno was appointed DSWD undersecretary on Tuesday, May 8.
“Malugod po akong nagpapasalamat sa muling pagtitiwala na ipinagkaloob sa atin ng ating Pangulong Duterte,” Moreno said in a statement to ABS-CBN News.
“Malaking trabaho at responsibilidad po ito ngunit gagawin ko po ang lahat upang magampanan ang aking tungkulin inatang satin sa abot ng aking makakaya para sa mga nangangailan natin mga mahihirap na kababayan.”
(I would like to thank President Duterte for trusting me again. This is a big task and responsibility and I will do everything to fulfill my duties and help our poor citizens.)
Duterte had appointed Moreno as chairman of the North Luzon Railways Corp. in July 2017. The actor-politician however resigned from the post three months later, citing personal reasons.
Moreno, Francisco Domagoso in real life, lost his senatorial bid in 2016 after serving three consecutive terms as Manila Vice Mayor.
Aside from Moreno, Duterte also appointed Antonio Joselito Gabor Lambino II as finance assistant secretary, Sherwin Smith Rigor as environment undersecretary, and Gerard Melocoton Camiña as board member of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority.
Camiña shall serve the unexpired term of office of Romeo Poquiz until June 30, 2018.
